Choosing Custom Wheels and Tires

2 min read

Jeep Wrangler Rims and Tires Packages are a popular addition to any car, truck or SUV. Whether it’s an upgrade to boost style and appearance, or for a specific performance purpose like off-roading or winter driving, the right set of wheels and tires can make your ride better than ever.

When you buy new wheels or tires for your vehicle, it is important to choose the correct size for the tires. The wheel and tire combination should fit the braking components, suspension parts and the body of the vehicle properly.

Proper Fitment: This is especially true when selecting a larger wheel diameter than stock. Increasing the overall wheel diameter can enhance the appearance of your vehicle while decreasing the tire sidewall (increased width) and improving off-road performance.

Clearance: This refers to the space that is available between the wheels and tires and all of the vehicle components in the wheel well area. The space available varies greatly from vehicle to vehicle.

Safety: Choosing a wheel width that is too wide can compromise vehicle safety and cause damage to the braking components, suspension parts and the vehicle body. This is especially true when carrying heavy loads or hauling trailers, as well as when driving over rough roads.

There are many factors that go into selecting a wheel width, but keeping the original equipment (OE) wheel width(s) front and back is the safest route to go. The OE wheel widths were established after extensive engineering and vehicle testing, so changing them for cosmetic reasons may cause a loss of performance that you won’t be happy with.
