Despite this decline in performance, Ten Hag still has 100 percent faith in Maguire. According to him, Maguire has the capacity to be able to quickly rediscover his best performance.
"First of all, of course I have to coach him, I have to support him but I support him because I believe in him," Ten Hag was quoted as saying by The Sun.
"In the period I worked with him in pre-season it was good, very good, training and playing then he was out of the team but that also has to do with the centre-backs who are playing now.
"Even after he wasn't in the team, he trained really well and his quality was there."
