We have used no other precious metal than gold for so long, for so many purposes and in such amounts. They attracted the fact people to it first because of its very name proves its beauty, 'aurum' in Latin, which means 'shining dawn', referring obviously to its gorgeous brightness.

Since the Chololithic, craftsmen have used it for its stunning appearance, such a usage culminating in the ancient Egypt, the pharaohs being not only the first to have gold coins made for offering them to their friends, but their tombs being the most amazing collections of gold and jewels ever created. Later, the beauty of gold was also responsible for the European attraction for Americas, in search of the gold wonders of the Pre-Columbian cultures and their hidden treasures.

Therefore, regardless of epochs, cultures or human typologies, gold has been loved by humans from the beginning until now, with the same passion and creativity.

The many show the latter uses it has served over time, from jewelry and arts to coins and industrial applications. From the Tutankhamen's amazing gold coffin to Pre-Columbian filigrees or Roman house ornaments or European queens and kings' jewelry and clothing, its beauty has been incessantly and creatively celebrated by craft workers through the ages.

As a store of value, I have also used it as a monetary device for centuries, starting so far back as the sixth century B.C. when King Croesus had gold coinage circulation. Today gold coins are no longer vehicles for monetary exchange and their amount is limited, but they are precious because of their rarity, besides the amount of metal I made them of, being collectible.

If gold is no longer money, you can still invest in gold coins or in high-purity gold bars, if you are interested in a stable and reliable asset, benefiting also from tax exemptions.

If because of its beauty and resistance to oxidation it has been used for jewelry and coinage alike, due further to its malleability, ductility and conductivity, gold has also many industrial applications these days, from dentistry to electronics, everything that uses gold components, nanotechnology included.

The increasing demand for it shows people's love for gold, by their substantially buying gold as jewelry, clothing or accessories, coins, bars or electronics goods, anything that can be consumed with pleasure or invested in with safety.
