Kedarnath Trek and Yatra Guide

The Kedarnath Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (divine representations of Lord Shiva) located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India.

Kedarnath Trek is a modest yet well-known pilgrimage site in the Rudraprayag region of Uttarakhand. It belongs to the well-known Char Dham. At a staggering 3583 metres above sea level, Kedarnath is surrounded by various snow-capped mountains and is not far from the Chorabari Glacier, where the Mandakini River was created. The well-known Kedarnath Mountain is located not far from Kedarnath. The Hindu pilgrimage place is visited annually by thousands of devotees from all around India. According to a local mythology, Lord Shiva is said to have disguised himself as a bull in order to elude the Pandavas. The name Kedarnath means "lord of fields" in the dialect of the area. One of the Pandava brothers, Bhima, recognised Lord Shiva and attempted to subdue the bull by using its tail and rear legs. The bull vanished into the ground just as Bhima was about to firmly grab it, only to reappear later in various shapes all over the area. In Kedarnath, where it is thought that the Pandavas built the temple and thereafter worshipped it, the hump of this bull first developed.
