Masjid-al-Haram.

The world’s largest mosque, Masjid-al-Haram is also the holiest mosque of Islam. Present in Makkah, Saudia Arabia this mosque remains the true focal point of Muslims because Holy Kaabah is present here. In addition,

  • Zamzam Well.
  • Maqam-e-Ibrahim.
  • Hajar-al-Aswad.
  • The Hills of Safah and Marwah.

All are present within its boundary.

That’s why all of the umrah rituals are performed in Masjid-al-Haram as well as some of the Hajj rituals.  

Jabal-al-Noor.

Jabal-al-Noor (the Mountain of Light) remains significantly famous for the presence of the Hira cave.

The cave of Hira was the place where the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) received the first-ever revelation of the Holy Quran by Hazrat Jibril (AS). As per the will of Allah Almighty, the first few verses of Surah-al-Alaq were revealed.

Jabal-Al-Noor is present at a short drive (northwest) of the old Makkah city. Since the sunlight is harsh during the daytime, most pilgrims attempt the summit to Hira cave either at dawn or dusk and also in the evening as well. The climb can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours i.e., depending on one’s physical abilities. Therefore, when attempting the trek pilgrims should be mindful to bring plenty of water and a flashlight as well. After ascending nearly 1,200 steps Hira cave is marked by a sign painted on stone.

Masjid-e-Aisha (RA).

Also referred to as ‘Taneem Mosque’, Masjid-e-Aisha (RA) is a popular destination for pilgrims as it also remains a Meeqat region for the locals.

This massive mosque is present at a distance of 10 kilometers, north of Masjid-Al-Haram (on the highway to Madinah city). It could take you 20-minutes through a taxi ride from Makkah city center to reach the destination, and longer as per the traffic flow.

Since it's a Meeqat station, Masjid-e-Aisha (RA) also has a lot of vendors outside selling Ihram clothing other essentials like slippers, hajj/umrah guide books, money belts, and many other things.

Jannat-Al-Mu’alla.

Jannat-Al-Mu’alla, also known as ‘Al-Hajun’ is among the oldest and the second most famous graveyard in Islamic history that is present in Makkah.

Many of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad's (SAWW) ancestors and close companions are buried here. Notably his (SAWW);

  • Mother (Aminah).
  • Grandfather (Abdul Muttalib).
  • First wife (Khadijah).
