Finding Your Freedom In Christ

Finding Your Freedom In Christ

Achieved riches and more, all the success you wished for… but through the bells and whistles, ask yourself, "Are you truly free?"

We yearn to escape anything that keeps us physically and spiritually caged. Like birds, we wish to soar toward our potential. But Satan's fiendish schemes and manipulation lure us back into the cage, stealing our freedom.

Let's discuss how to find our way back home toward freedom each time in Christ.

Already Free

Firstly, let it be known that freedom in the form of salvation was handed to us when Jesus gave His life for our sins. This is something made evident in John 8:36, which says,

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

This verse alone is incredibly liberating as it sets the precedent that freedom isn't a far-fetched dream; it is something within arms reach, for it was given to us by Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Salvation inherently frees us to reside in the blessings and promises given to us when Christ was crucified. However, there is a caveat. Even though freedom is yours for the taking, your actions will determine whether freedom will sustain itself or not.

Persistence

We will only have true freedom in Christ when we accept God's blessings in our lives and choose to live according to His Word. Sometimes, the devil will tempt you, for he chooses to come after those dearest to God. The key is to persevere and not to sacrifice our freedom in the everlasting in exchange of worldly pleasures.

The truth is, Satan may try to deviate us from our purpose, living life in Christ, but he cannot inherently take what is ours.

Here are some of the ways we can live freely in Christ:

Prayer: To stay away from temptation, we need to draw closer to Christ. Prayer is the most raw and intimate form of communication between God and His people. As believers, we must invest our time meditating in deep thought and prayer, communicating our desires and sorrows.

Random Acts of Kindness: Freedom is contagious. Instead of wasting energy pursuing crude and wicked endeavors, it's better to spread happiness in the name of God by performing random acts of kindness.

Repentance: Consistency is key. The devil is constantly on the prowl, trying to sneak in from even the slightest cracks in your armor. It is never too late to start anew with a clean slate—Repent.

Bible Study: When you need words of encouragement, read the Bible. Prioritize visiting the Bible every single day just as much as praying.

Companion: Be particularly mindful about the voices we surround ourselves with. These may stem from the people we choose to bring along on our journey or the content we consume.
