Got a VP9? Make These Upgrades

Got a VP9? Make These Upgrades
4 min read

The striker-fired HK VP9 is up against some serious contenders in its class. “Best of” lists of 9mm handguns often feature it - alongside heavy hitters like the G17, Sig P320, and S&W M&P 2.0.

But the VP9 brings a lot to the table. It features a cold hammer-forged polygonal bore which creates a more effective gas seal for greater muzzle velocity and ballistic efficiency, as well as an ultra-strong and lightweight reinforced polyamide frame - among other shooter-friendly, performance-boosting traits and features.

The VP9 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a full-sized 9mm duty pistol. It’s great, but it could be better - with some of the following HK upgrades from Anarchy Outdoors.

HK Compensator
One of the most impactful upgrades you can make to an HK VP9 is a compensator - especially in terms of performance.

Anarchy Outdoors’ HK compensator (which, by the way, is also compatible with VP40) redirects gasses ported at the muzzle. This rearrangement of ported gases, in part, forces the muzzle down, which carries some huge advantages.

This substantially reduces felt recoil - by as much as 50% - without reducing shot power, enabling greater accuracy, faster, more accurate follow-up shots, and for recoil-sensitive shooters, resulting in less fatigue.

It is hands down one of the easiest and most practical upgrades you can make to combat recoil and muzzle flip which rob you of accuracy.

Plus, they’re easy to install and worth every penny.

HK Magwell
Where a compensator can fight muzzle flip and combat felt recoil, Anarchy Outdoors’ HK magwell can streamline reloads, eliminate fumbling between reloads, and enable faster shooting - which is critical not only in competition but in self-defense situations.

Anarchy Outdoors’ HK magwell, which like their compensator, is also compatible with the VP40, is made from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, it installs in seconds via a single set screw, and will not damage the frame of the handgun.

This magwell acts like a funnel, guiding the mag up and into the gun, eliminating fumbling in high-stress encounters and cutting time off reloads.

HK Extended Magazine Release
Anarchy Outdoors’ HK extended magazine release is another practical, low-cost upgrade you can make to your VP9 to improve handling and performance, and as the others mentioned here, exhibits uncommonly high quality.

Their HK extended magazine release is also made from high-quality materials and is relatively easy to install.

It is much more ergonomic than the stock mag release on the VP9 and much easier to access, too, which aids in mag drops. Pairing it with the magwell mentioned above is the perfect one-two combo to cut time off your reloads.

Also, since Anarchy Outdoors offers this HK VP9 upgrade in 5 colors - including 4 high contrast colors (gold, blue, red, and purple) it can improve mag release visibility, which is a bonus for new shooters.

(Just be aware this upgrade part is not compatible with the HK45.)

Bundle and Save with an HK Upgrade Kit
Interested in making all of these VP9 upgrades together and reaping all of the benefits?

Don’t buy them piecemeal. You can, but Anarchy Outdoors has a better option.

Get their HK VP9 Upgrade Kit (also for the VP40) which contains all of these parts but also comes with a slide plate and base plate.

You should get the kit if you’re thinking about getting more than one of these parts as the bundle will save you money over buying individually.

Also, in addition to saving through a bundled upgrade kit, you also have the advantage of color-coordination, which makes personalizing your VP9 much easier.
