How to Stay Safe Online

Your Xbox Live account will give you access to numerous settings that will allow you and your family to play online in the way you'd like. You can manage all of your settings at account.xbox.com/settings but here's a rundown of the most important ones:

"JOIN MULTIPLAYER GAMES" SETTINGS

If you have your settings that block you from joining multiplayer games, you can't play multiplayer games on Minecraft including shared local worlds Realms, servers or even the realms. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft, make sure this setting is set to 'Allow.'

"OTHERS can be able to communicate via voice or TXT and also send invitations" SETTINGS

If your settings are set to block communication from other players, you will be in a position to participate in multiplayer games on Minecraft, but you won't receive chat messages from other players or receive invites to join in games with other players.

Children's Accounts for Children Under 13S

You must have parental consent to establish an Xbox Live account if you are younger than 13 years. Parents can add a child account at https://account.microsoft.com/family/addmember.
Minecraft servers

All accounts of children are automatically removed from multiplayer and communication. This means that child accounts are not able to play in other players in their worlds, Realms, servers, or interact with other players online until their parents log in to change the settings to allow multiplayer.

GENERAL TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE on the internet in MINECRAFT

There are tons of great guides on how to stay secure online (here's one we'd recommend!) But here are a couple of Minecraft-specific advice.

Do not share your Xbox Live Account PASSWORD

Your account is not just your personal information, but if you have an account with Realm or have purchased something from the marketplace, it also is the record of all of your online purchases in Minecraft. You should not divulge your password or share your Xbox Live account.

THERE'S NO WAY TO GET FREE MINECRAFT COINS OR MARKETPLACE CONTENT

Anyone who asks for account details or personal information and promises you Minecraft Coins or content in exchange is not doing you any good! There is no other way to obtain Coins, marketplace content, or to transfer Coins to someone else than through the game.
