India has reinstated the issuance of e-visas for Canadian tourists and business travelers after a two-month hiatus, according to recent reports. This decision comes in the wake of tensions arising from Ottawa's allegations of potential involvement by the Indian Government in the murder of a Canadian Sikh separatist leader.
An unnamed official from the Indian Government stated that the resumption of e-visa services for Canadians is a step towards alleviating tensions between the two nations. However, the official cautioned against expecting an immediate significant improvement in bilateral relations.
This development, particularly for tourism and business purposes, is part of India's gradual normalization of visa services. Earlier, visas under four of the 13 categories, which were suspended in September, had been restored.

Ajay Prakash, Board Member of the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) and President of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), praised the move, emphasizing the importance of resolving differences through dialogue and facilitating people-to-people movement.
Jyoti Mayal, President of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), described the decision as a positive step towards promoting tourism and strengthening bilateral ties. She emphasized the need to open e-tourist visas for all countries to enhance ease of travel.
