Umrah is a shortened version of Hajj. Pilgrims can perform Umrah at any time of the 365 days. Performing Umrah and visiting the Holy places in Makkah and Madinah is the dream of every Muslim, whether old or child. During the last 2 years, the Saudi government imposed restrictions due to Covid-19 on overseas pilgrims. Due to these restrictions by the Saudi authorities, all the pilgrims living abroad were worried and heartbroken.

According to the Saudi government’s restrictions, only 18 to 50 aged double-vaccinated people can perform Umrah due to the pandemic. But, in 2022, the Saudi authorities lifted the age limit restriction to perform Umrah. Now, every Pilgrim can perform Umrah, whether old or child.

More details are available from travel agents/travel agencies to find Umrah packages. It is better to get answers to all the questions that bother and scare your mind about going for Umrah.

An age limit for Umrah 2022:

Umrah travel is also worship. During this journey, Muslims perform 4 rituals which are also parts of Hajj. It is a way of receiving Allah's grace like praying daily, fasting Ramadan and giving charity etc. So Umrah is very good for every Islamic follower, whether he is in the early part of his age or the last.

There is no age limit restriction on performing Umrah. Every Muslim, whether old or child, can perform Umrah at any age and at any time of the year. Pilgrims can perform Umrah during the days of Hajj, not performed separately, but it is performed as a part of Hajj. Performing Umrah and Hajj together during the same journey is called Hajj-al-Tamattu.

Before the COVID-19 attack on the world, Muslims of any age and any time of the year performed Umrah. But this virus changed the whole World’s timetable. The pandemic had badly frozen the entire World’s daily routine of life. Every country had suffered from a lockdown emergency.

Due to this lockdown emergency, the traffic had closed. People could not go from one city to another city. International flights were closed during this pandemic. Therefore, it became impossible for an individual to travel from one country to another.

The Hajj and Umrah flights were closed due to this pandemic of Covid-19. The Saudi government had banned all pilgrims, whether Saudi citizens or overseas, to perform Umrah due to this pandemic. Muslims had offered prayers in social distancing during this era.

We divide our topic into three portions. These are as follows:

Age limit for Umrah 2020

In 2020, The Saudi government allowed only Saudi citizens to perform Umrah and Hajj with age restrictions. Because the Saudi government had closed the door to overseas pilgrims. The vaccinations for Covid-19 were available in the Market at the end of 2020.

According to this new policy, all pilgrims could perform Umrah with age restrictions and double vaccination, whether for Saudi citizens or overseas. Age limit for Umrah 2022

Now, in 2022, The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah had announced there will be no longer a restriction of age limit for pilgrims to perform Hajj and Umrah. This announcement is the biggest and greatest news for all pilgrims to perform Umrah. So, all pilgrims from all over the World can perform Umrah without any restriction or age limit.

Hajj and Umrah are obligatory for those who have reached their pubic age, and both are not mandatory for such who are mentally and physically disabled.

Mostly, a family consists of small, adult and elderly people. If an infant or a child below 5 years of age accompanies the holy journey, the guardian needs extra attention to protect him/her. Before opening the doors of the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia does not allow Muslims between the ages of 5 and 60 to perform Umrah. Now, the ban has been lifted and anyone of any age can perform Umrah.

Muslims around the world are once again getting a chance to perform Umrah without strict restrictions after almost 2.5 years. The reduced restrictions have also affected the rates of each Umrah package. Nowadays, the common man can easily perform Umrah at cheap rates with two doses of COVID-19 proof.
