The duration and price of medicinal marijuana cards were changed, according to the Medical Cannabis Commission of Maryland. A reform that lowers the cost of a medicinal marijuana card from $50 to $25 and lengthens its validity from three to six years was authorised by the state commission. According to Will Tilburg, executive director of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, "the commission made the adjustment because patients frequently find renewing a card perplexing." Due to more effective administrative procedures, the price of printing and processing cards is also decreasing, thus prices are now more in line with a $25 fee than a $50 fee.
He added,
"We have a substantial elderly patient group and have consistently heard criticism that having registration that needs to be renewed as well as certification fairly periodically is perplexing."
Therefore, we are taking this action to simplify the procedure and guarantee that the patient won't be put at further financial hardship by the card charge.
In Maryland, chronic pain is the primary factor in obtaining a medical marijuana certificate. Maryland has 159,000 patients who use medical marijuana; the state commission has noticed a surge of about 12,000 over the last six months.
