Minecraft is a space for players to express themselves in many different ways. You can play using the space as a Dungeons & Dragons map or even recreate your favourite games, or simply socialize with your friends. HYPEDPVP It's likely due to this that the new moderation tools are making players worried.

Let's be clear about this moderation tools are pretty much essential on the internet since you can't truly trust anyone not to be the worst given the chance. They have to be working. A few Redditors have shared their opinions on the matter and they're not impressed with the results. JewelTK posted the most thorough blog on the topic. They also made a video to talk about it from their perspective as someone who hosts several servers.

This video contains brutal language. If you decide to view it, remember that there is a warning right at the beginning. While the specifics of their issues are more complex it's possible to break them down into two parts. It is possible to use the system to ban users who shouldn't be banned, especially as a retaliation for being banned from servers. Another reason is that players have different boundaries for what they think is acceptable and what's not and various communities already have their own rules. Discriminating people who don't understand everything could lead to unfair decisions.

Java chat reporting from the perspective of an server host from Minecraft

Redditor Quillka has suggested that these particular tools for reporting should be restricted to official Microsoft Realms, mostly for the same reasons as previously mentioned. They say that "It is impossible to assume that the entire Minecraft player base , which includes people of all ages will conform to be completely child-friendly." It's easy to understand their argument. While profanity filters ensure that children are safe in global chats, in smaller and more managed communities adult groups talking to one another shouldn't have to worry about swearing. Popbobsnob also offers "propaganda", which is very creative in more unbalanced arguments.
