It goes beyond the obvious things to discover the underlying complexities of a mother-daughter relationship, a rare sight in Hindi movies. The latter has either villainized or overlooked the conflict for the gallery. Also, Qala dares to see the raw, even the ugly inside of seemingly normal relations, with a heart-aching longing and regret at the center.
