QuickBooks Desktop 2024 is slated for release later this year, bringing new features and upgrades for small business accounting users. As a longtime QuickBooks power user, I'm eager to learn what's new.

The new built-in Dark Mode delivers for those who prefer darker interfaces or work on QuickBooks at night. Just toggle it on, and forms, headers, and backgrounds will all switch to darker shades that are easier on the eyes. I may enable it permanently!

Refined Payroll Integrations
Running payroll through QuickBooks Desktop has always been disconnected from the rest of the app. But in 2024, Intuit focused on tightening the integration for a single unified accounting experience.
Setting up payroll is streamlined with more straightforward onboarding right in QuickBooks. Critical tasks like paying employees and filing taxes are seamless without jumping between programs. Payroll is much less of an add-on now.
Improved Inventory Management
QuickBooks Desktop 2024 also brings several handy upgrades to inventory workflows for product-based small businesses. Assembly management is enhanced, inventory transfer tracking is introduced, and bundled inventory capabilities are expanded.
