In 2023, after a gap of three years, the Rail Service Group reignited their custom of conducting the annual business regatta, Spring Sailing Week (SSW), which attracts entities from the railway sector and related fields. The competition was held from May 27th to June 3rd in Turkey, this year. The sailing event witnessed the participation of 12 corporate squads, including organizations from the Rail Service Group, railway carriage service providers, wagon maintenance firms, members from the banking industry, solid-rolled railway wheel manufacturers, port business entities, and a commerce firm.

First launched in 2018 in Croatia with only seven teams, the regatta has since nearly doubled its participation. The roster included both veterans and beginners of the sailing sport. The contests took place in two divisions - Bavaria 46 and Hanse 445, each heralding a champion.

SSW is an excellent blend of athletic and corporate elements. Attendees not only enjoy an exciting sportive encounter but also forge casual business contacts that often mature into potent commercial collaborations. Participants of the regatta appreciate these events as a superior means of networking. Further, much like in a thriving business, teamwork is key in yachting. Results stem from effective communication, coordinated efforts, and a clear understanding of each participant's role. Hence, such events are not simply about endorsing amateur sailing, but also serve as a conduit for business advancement, professional knowledge sharing, reinforcing business connections, and fostering teamwork.

All teams demonstrated their readiness to compete to the end, regardless of the circumstances. Despite setbacks like torn sails, malfunctioning winches, and cables entwining around a screw, the participants remained undeterred, confidently tackling every hurdle with their team spirit intact.

Following four days of intense racing in the Bavaria 46 division, Sergey Gushchin's combined team emerged victorious in a closely-fought battle. Notably, this was the first win for this team in three years. The Wagon-Wheeled Workshop from Stary Oskol secured second place, while Dubai's trading company OWLL bagged the bronze.

In the Hanse 445 division, the Garant Rail Service team claimed a decisive victory. The Partners company team, which comprised banking sector representatives, won the silver, while the Rail Service employees' team took home the bronze.

Sergey Gushchin shared his perspective on the event: “The sail symbolizes the force that propels us forward, and our team aids in achieving remarkable speeds. With adept handling of this sail and unwavering team solidarity, we can triumph in any race, battle, or situation. Yachting undoubtedly brings out the best in all participants, attributes needed not just at sea but also in the world of business - courage, resilience, and unity. Such moments truly underscore the significance of a well-coordinated team and its contribution."

Looking ahead, the Rail Service Group intends to perpetuate and grow the tradition of holding the regatta, with the aim to engage new partners and stakeholders from the railway business fraternity.
