What is the use of a surface area calculator?

Surface area calculator is an online calculator used to calculate the surface area of geometric solids, including a cone, capsule, cylinder, frustum, cube, hemisphere, pyramid, rectangular prism, spherical cap, sphere and triangular prism.

You can calculate the surface area depending on the body using different formulas. Some formulas are used to calculate the surface area of the common body types. In the surface area calculations, all lengths are measured in the same unit, including inches, cm and mm. The final result from the surface area calculator will be a square of the same unit square feet, square meters, square cm, square mm, square inches etc.

What do you mean by surface area?

The total area occupied by an object's surface is called the surface area. It has different 3D shapes with different surface areas, which can be calculated easily. allcalculator.net's  The surface area is classified into two categories:

  • Lateral surface area or curved surface area
  • Total surface area

How can you calculate the surface area of some common shapes?

The surface area of a cube

 This calculation requires one measurement, side 2, which is the surface of one of the sides, and the cube has six equal sides; multiplied by 6 gives us the total cube surface area.

The surface area of a box

A rectangular box has equal and opposite sides, so you can calculate each unique side's area and then add them together. Finally, multiply by two to find the total surface area.

The surface area of a cylinder

The cylinder surface area is the height times the perimeter of the circle base plus the areas of the two bases.

The surface area of a sphere

A sphere’s surface area can be calculated by its diameter or radius. Π is the well-known mathematical constant which is equal to 3.14159.

The surface area of a cone

The surface area of a cone is the complicated one where the need for a calculator is more important. You can easily calculate the surface area of a cone with two measurements: the diameter of the base and height, but the calculus involved in the simplest method.

The surface area of a triangular prism

 A triangular prism is a stack of triangles; triangle-solving rules apply when calculating the area of the bases.

How can you find the surface area of a rectangular prism?

To calculate the surface area of a rectangular prism, you need to calculate the areas of the rectangular sides

A = 2* (A1 + A2 + A3)

Where,

A1 = 1*w

A2 = w*h

A3 = 1*h

The final formula is here:

A = 2 * (1 * w + w * h + 1 * h)
