Diploma of Community Services

Suitable for new entrants to the community services workforce, this qualification reflects the role of people who manage and coordinate person-centered services to individuals or groups. It may also involve developing and monitoring support plans, working with clients with complex needs, and delivering direct client service.

Under the Queensland Government's Fee Free TAFE initiative, Eligible students won't pay course fees for this qualification.

This program provides a foundation for a career in community services, social housing, and mental health care. You'll develop various skills to create positive transformation in diverse communities, including leadership, advocacy, and service delivery.

Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management

The CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management is a comprehensive qualification allowing you to become a manager within various community services. You will be able to provide guidance and support to workers who seek to improve the lives of their clients. You can work independently or report to executive management in job roles that will give you a well-rounded foundation for progressing in your career.

Designed for trainees at the management level, this course is ideal for those working in a wide range of community service industries such as childcare, aged care, and more. It will teach you how to plan and monitor service delivery, effectively recruit employees, complete thorough performance reviews and manage organisational risk. You will also learn how to develop a high-performance client service ethos, promote diversity and push for continuous improvement.

To enroll in this course, you must be a Nominated Supervisor, Director, or Coordinator in an ACECQA-approved early childhood education and care service. This qualification is also suitable for those with a relevant higher education qualification or extensive management experience in another industry. You must have language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills that meet the standards required by ACSF LEVEL 3. This includes the ability to read and interpret written information and understand legislation and practices that impact the overall operation of an ACECQA-approved early childhood education and childcare service.

Certificate III in Community and Welfare Support

Certificate III in Community and Welfare Support is an entry-level course for those wanting to become community services workers. This nationally recognized qualification will give you the skills to work in community service organisations. It will also prepare you for other qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Community Service and Diploma of Community Service. Your training will help you build your confidence and skills as a compassionate professional. You will learn how to promote diversity and coordinate complex case requirements.

You will also learn about legal and ethical compliance and how to manage relationships with clients. The course is delivered online and through face-to-face workshops at Breakthru's Port Pirie, Murray Bridge, or Victor Harbor campus. The workshops are usually from 9.30 to 4.00 pm, and the dates vary between campuses.

This course is for people who want to gain a community services job working with individuals daily in community settings and supporting the implementation of specific community-based programs. The community services sector is one of the largest industries in Australia and offers a wide range of employment opportunities.
