Although it might seem like a distant place you consider going on an afternoon or weekend trip, you're bound to be enthralled by strolling around the city as well as exploring the outdoors and learning more about Florida. We discovered that it was the perfect spot to enjoy a brief weekend getaway. Here are a few of the most enjoyable activities to enjoy in Tallahassee:

There are several places to discover and learn more about this place. 1. Wakulla Springs State Park

In the southeastern corner of Tallahassee is this remarkable and historical state park. One of the major attractions that the park has is Wakulla Spring, one of the biggest and deepest springs anywhere in the world. The spring can be accessed via a diving tower or simply swim in the refreshing, cool 68-degree water. Enjoy the Jungle Cruise of the spring and Wakulla River, where you'll get an opportunity to view the wildlife of the area, including alligators, manatees and birds. Another highlight of Wakulla Springs is the historical Lodge in Wakulla Springs, built in 1937. The lodge operates as a hotel featuring old-fashioned guests rooms as well as a stunning lobby, and two restaurants.

2. Museum of Florida History

Naturally, we from Florida Lives will jump on every opportunity to visit an exhibit about Florida, and the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee was not a disappointment. The museum has a wide range of subjects from prehistoric times to World War II. The exhibits are extremely engaging, and there's a variety of fascinating exhibits that will keep your interest. The Museum also houses a 1800s-era house, called The Knott House Museum, which is open to visitors.

3. Capitol Buildings

A visit to Florida's Capital would not be complete without a visit of the Capitol Complex. There are numerous memorials and monuments that are located around the grounds, and stunning architecture to be admired. The interior of the Capitol Building is only open for visitors during the week.

4. Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park

Maclay Gardens State Park is one of my top places to go in Tallahassee. The gardens are gorgeous. The paths made of brick are set amongst old live oaks with Spanish Moss. It's like an old postcard of the South. Reflection pool is a treasure hidden away in the gardens. There are numerous things to do at the park such as the boat ramp, the beach area at Lake Hall, picnic pavilions as well as trails for biking, hiking or horseback rides. The park is an ideal spot to spend an hour or two while visiting Tallahassee.

Take some time to explore the splendid attractions of this place, and make your trip worthwhile. While booking your flights from Mumbai and Coimbatore, don’t just fool around restaurants and tall buildings. Instead, take a good note of what’s under the table.

5. Downtown Tallahassee

Downtown Tallahassee has historic structures Hotels, parks, restaurants as well as Florida State University! We stay within The Doubletree by Hilton that was the ideal location to explore in the city's historic downtown. (If you are visiting during the season that is not in the off-season, i.e. summer, the hotel is extremely affordable). Visit the fountains and parks gorgeous architecture, and perspectives of the city.
