Cannabis use for recreational purposes has not yet been legalised in Florida. Currently, only medical use of marijuana is permitted.

In Florida, marijuana is legal to possess if you have a medicinal marijuana card. You must always have your medical card on you while buying marijuana because it is required by law.

Rick Scott, the governor, signed the Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act in 2014. 

Cannabis with a high THC content was legalised in 2016, although cannabis smoking was prohibited. But in 2019, this prohibition was lifted.

The Florida Medical Marijuana Recreational Use Amendment bill was filed in 2022 to legalise cannabis use by adults, but it did not receive enough support to pass.
