What is Alcoholism?
Alcoholism is categorized when an individual is more tolerant towards drinking and becomes a habitual drinker, because of which their mental capacity and physical dependence are highly impacted, and it's nearly impossible to live without consuming it. Alcohol consumption is a major growing concern in many countries, it is now considered common for adults above 18 years of age. Young adults are admired by the fact and prefer to try and drink alcohol when they reach a certain age. You will be able to find only a limited percentage of people not consuming alcohol, while some may try to remain sober after quitting it.
How does alcohol impact the brain?
Alcohol has several properties that slow down brain functions, it is a Central Nervous System CNS depressant, which promotes simultaneous changes in several neuronal pathways, and exerts profound neurological impacts that lead to various behavioral and biological alterations. As per the statistics, young adults are more inclined toward these activities that involve addictive traits and consume various types of things that affect their lifestyle and behavior.
Excessive drinking is the major reason for many criminal activities such as car accidents, and hyperactive behavior that results in anger, rage, and frustration, causing fights, isolation, and even abuse and violence. Such behavior from drinking habits can cause accidents, suicide in teens, health risks, disrupted mental and physical capacity, and death. It Is a much more serious growing concern among teenagers than older adults, as it affects their brain development. If they have prolonged alcohol consumption, their brain functionality may be affected which can potentially result in lifelong cognitive problems.
