So you have your sights set on conquering the sandy terrain with a utility terrain vehicle? Or ATV Adventures is what your heart desires? Both are great choices, but before you embark on your adrenaline filled adventure, let us guide you through the trail system.

In this article, we will give you few suggestions for Side- by-Side ATV Rides and places where you can go for your ATV Adventure Trips

Ellis Trail

The Ellis Trail is 2.7 miles long and is across the road from the lower parking area of Ellis Trailhead. This trail is named for George Ellis, who stayed in the Sandia Mountains from the 1880’s until his death in 1912.

Elevation ranges from 9,640 to 10,270 feet for an elevation gain of 630 feet. The Elis Trail has been around for some time and is a popular trail in northern Colorado. It offers mesmerizing scenery and a little challenge for every level of rider.

You can explore the nearby Jeep Trail too, as its just 14 miles long and has a number of wet sections, so you can plan whole day trips with your family and friends. You need to take note that you may experience network coverage issues.

Lizard Head pass

Lizard Head Pass shares its name with the surrounding Lizard Head Wilderness. The area is named for prominent Lizard Head Peak, a column shaped rock said to resemble a lizard’s head.

This pass has a breathtaking 10,246 foot mountain pass along the San Juan Skyway. Accessible via State Highway 145, Lizard Head Pass offers a spectacular view above beautiful southwest Colorado.

It connects Ames, an unincorporated community south of Telluride, with Rico, even further south of Telluride. Although the San Juan Skyway is open year round, the area is famous for rapidly changing weather conditions. In the winter, drivers should be prepared in case of inclement weather.

Red Feather Lakes

The name was inspired by Princess Tsianina Redfeather Blacktone. a native American girl who was touring in concert with the composer Charles Wakefield Cadman. Apparently, the namesake was Princess Redfeather’s grandfather, Chief Redfeather, whose grave was supposed to be in the area.

Ring by the 612,000 acre Roosevelt National Forest. The Red Feather Lakes area is a year round outdoor playground that offers beautiful scenery, diverse wildlife, hiking trails, and cozy mountain retreats.

You will find more than 100 miles of double track Off-Road Adventure and a few trails of semi technical single tracks in the west of the forest.
