The US Embassy in India has announced the opening of student visa appointments for the period of mid-July to mid-August. This development comes after the US Mission in India issued an unprecedented number of over 125,000 student visas in 2022, setting a new record.

Aspiring students can now secure their visa appointments by visiting the official website, ustraveldocs.com, according to an update shared by the US Embassy on June 18 via social media. The embassy encouraged applicants to promptly book their appointments through the mentioned portal.

To secure a slot, applicants must submit their necessary documents, including an identity photo, through the designated website. Additionally, a visa application fee of $185, or Rs 15,540, can be paid online.

The opening of student visa appointments follows the successful seventh annual Student Visa Day conducted by the US Mission in India. The event, held on June 7, involved interviews with approximately 3,500 applicants in New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

Highlighting the significance of Indian students studying in the US, US Ambassador Eric Garcetti emphasized that more Indian students choose the United States for their education than students from any other country. In 2022, one out of every five student visas issued globally was granted to Indian students, surpassing India’s proportion of the global population. The ambassador also expressed optimism about processing the highest number of student visa applications in US history, acknowledging the longstanding excellence Indian students have demonstrated.l

“Students can visit ustraveldocs.com, to book their appointment, the U.S. Embassy India tweeted.”

According to statistics provided by the embassy, India accounted for the largest number of visitors to the US in 2022, with over 1.2 million Indian nationals traveling to the country. Additionally, Indians received the highest proportion of H&L employment visas (65 percent) and F1 student visas (17.5 percent) worldwide.

Prospective Indian students are encouraged to seize this opportunity by promptly scheduling their visa appointments within the mid-July to mid-August timeframe. The availability of appointments may vary based on demand and consular capacity, making early action crucial.

The US Embassy’s initiative aims to facilitate the educational aspirations of Indian students and foster stronger academic ties between India and the United States.
