What I discovered during the Bright Circle training

3 min read

I had no intention of turning into a bid writer. To be completely honest, I'd doubt anyone who claimed to have done so. I wasn't even really aware that the position even existed, just like everyone else I've told about it over the past few months. I was aware of what tenders were and must have assumed that someone wrote the applications, but I never considered that there was an entire thriving industry looking for people just like me. I was looking for a new job, and when I searched "game writer" on LinkedIn, Bright Circle's job posting appeared. I enjoy both words and strategy and competition, and game writing has always seemed like a wonderful intersection of those two. I had no idea that LinkedIn's algorithm had just provided me with a job that was even more ideal for my skill set.

With Bright Circle, I recently finished my training, and I couldn't be more pleased with how it went. There aren't many formal ways to study this field, but the curriculum Peter and his team developed is extensive and empowering. I learned more in those fifteen hours than I did in many of my university semesters—partly as a crash course in drafting and editing, partly as a deep dive into strategy and tactics and the numerous moving parts of the tender submissions process. I updated my technical writing abilities and practised simulated delicate situations with my group of new writers. I greatly appreciated the emphasis placed on solving actual problems. There was no fluff in this submission, just like in a bid. We are all now well-equipped to achieve our single, overarching objective as bid writers, which is to secure the contract for our client.

I couldn't agree more with one of my fellow trainees when they said that it felt truly special to have a company invest in us so strongly right away. I feel confident that I can handle anything that comes my way because of the faith Bright Circle has placed in us. I now have a network of other bid writers with a wealth of experience to turn to if things ever do become too much.

I've already worked hard on one project, and I look forward to more. I've heard from several of my friends that the position of "competitive writing" is ideal for me, and all I can say is that I'm grateful to have come across Bright Circle's ad at the right time.
