What will the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022 be about?
The details of this year's John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022 have been kept tightly under wraps, as usual.

However, following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, some wondered if this year's clip might act as a tribute to the late monarch.

Lots of particularly moving stories came out from people waiting in the queue to see the Queen lying in state, where new friendships were formed as mourners stood for hours to pay their respects.

Some, including Dara Ó Briain, took to Twitter to comment on how some stories coming from the queue could be made into a Netflix series:

The John Lewis & Partners Christmas advert is a television advertising campaign released by British department store chain John Lewis & Partners and, since 2019, also Waitrose & Partners in the build-up to Christmas.[1] John Lewis & Partners launched their first Christmas advert in 2007. It has since become something of an annual tradition in the UK,[2] and one of the signals that the countdown to Christmas has begun.[3][4][5] The adverts tend to attract widespread media coverage and acclaim upon their release.[6] Between 2019 and 2020, the advert has promoted both John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners.
The songs used in the advertising campaigns are frequently covers (excluding 2018 and 2020) of existing songs by different artists. They have often reached high positions on the UK Singles Chart, and the original versions often receive a sales boost.[7][8] Ellie Goulding, Gabrielle Aplin, Lily Allen, Aurora, Tom Odell and Vaults are among the artists whose music has appeared in a John Lewis Christmas advert.[9][10] In 2018, Sir Elton John became the first artist to perform and star in the advert. In 2021, Lola Young was chosen to cover the 1980s hit "Together in Electric Dreams", with a slowed down arrangement which had alt-folk duo the Portraits accusing the retailer of copying them and their version of the song recorded in 2020.[11]
London-based agency Adam & Eve/DDB have conceived the adverts since 2009.[12] The adverts have led to some fierce competition, most notably from Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer and Boots.

John Lewis Christmas advert 2022 - plot and release date rumours
Christmas is a time for celebration, giving gifts, and, of course, endless amounts of advertising.
However, adverts are an iconic part of the festive season, with companies pulling out all the stops to produce works of art that stick in our memories—at least until they completely outdo themselves the following year.
There is truly something special about these adverts, and whether it be Coca-Cola or John Lewis, we all have our favourite.

When they appear on our screens, it triggers something in our brains and lets us know that Christmas is well and truly on its way.
But when do the adverts usually air?
John Lewis
Well, since 2014, John Lewis has launched its advert in early November, normally between November 7 and 15.

It is often revealed early on a Friday morning, and if we were to base our predictions on that, it could be released on November 11 or a little earlier than usual on November 4.
Either way, it will be here in the blink of an eye.Last year's advert follows a boy called Nathan who discovers an alien spaceship that has crash-landed on Earth and befriends a young alien called Skye by teaching her Christmas traditions.

When is the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022 released? Song speculation and news
There's not long left to wait now until the highly-anticipated release of the John Lewis Christmas Advert for 2022.

Last year, we met the Unexpected Guest, a cutesy alien friendship story which warmed hearts to the tune of Together in Electric Dreams.
This year, the theme, song and release date are all up for grabs, but that hasn't stopped people speculating about when we can start to think about getting the Christmas tree out of the loft.
When is the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022 released?
We would expect the John Lewis Christmas Advert to be released around the first or second week of November, but the specific date is yet to be confirmed.

Last year's Unexpected Guest landed on 4th November, but 2020's Give a Little Love arrived on 13th November.
Excitable Edgar from 2019 landed on 14th November, and the Sir Elton John-inspired The Boy & The Piano came on 15th November.
Eagle-eyed readers will notice that every year the advert is released on a Thursday, so with that in mind, we'd expect to see it either 3rd November or 10th November.
