Why You Should Visit The Dentist Immediately After A Vacation
3 min read

When planning a vacation with your family, the last thing on your mind may be toothaches, cavities, and gum diseases. However, taking care of your dental health is essential even on holiday. If you have already come back home after spending a nice weekend in Hawaii, it is a must for you to immediately book an appointment at a dentist in Willowbrook

People usually eat unhealthy and junk food when they are on holiday, trying out the local cuisines and specialties of the place they visit. Maybe you explored the new city all day and were too tired by the time you arrived at your hotel room, so you went to sleep without brushing your teeth. While this may seem harmless, it has consequences.

Reasons to visit the dentist immediately after a vacation

  1. You may have discolored teeth after a vacation.

If you went on vacation with your friends or family, it is possible that you might have drank a number of highly pigmented drinks, especially wine, coffee, and cranberry, and eaten foods with gravy. You might also have drank more alcohol than usual, which is not too great for your teeth. When your teeth get stained, they may appear a little yellowish and lose some white color. Discolored and stained teeth after a vacation can be upsetting to look at, but it is your first sign to see a dentist.

  1. Sugary food intake goes up during vacations.

Even though you might have sworn before going on vacation that you won’t eat or drink anything with sugar in it, it is easy to break your own rules when you are enjoying yourself with your friends and family. Sugary food items are bad for your teeth, even around holidays. You might find yourself eating a cookie, a chocolate pie, or chewing sugary gum. Anything that is sticky and has sugar can get stuck in your teeth and damage them.

  1. You are experiencing tooth pain.

Tooth pain is one of the most obvious signs you need to see your dentist, regardless of whether you are on vacation. If you are experiencing tooth pain, the reason could be a cracked or chipped tooth, a new cavity, or an infection in your tooth. You might have cracked your tooth while trying to bite a hard candy cane or cracking a walnut with your teeth. Whatever the cause may be, see a dentist immediately.
