William Beers was a dentist from Canada who is credited with promoting and standardizing the game of lacrosse. In 1860, he published "Lacrosse: The National Game of Canada," which included the first set of standardized rules for the sport. His efforts helped spread lacrosse throughout Canada and eventually led to its adoption as the national summer sport of Canada.
