Minecraft is making its educational worlds freeof charge, to assist students who are no longer able school because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 12 lessons online are available for download until June 30th.

These include tours of the International Space Station as well as the inside of a human's eye. They can be "played on your own or with your family or friends".

The worlds offer puzzles and writing that are creative and also build challenges.

Other lessons include:

Puzzle games that teach students how code is written, and how to think like programmers

A tour of the most important landmarks in Washington DC including the White House, the Pentagon and the Lincoln Memorial

A game about creating power using other sources of energy like the wind and nucleus.

In a blog, Microsoft Minecraft's creator stated that educators around the world are doing everything they can to provide digital lessons to half a billion children who are not able to go to school due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"This is not an easy job, and we're determined to play our part in helping help keep young minds sharp and stimulated."
