If you are planning out your trips for 2023, let us suggest Prague. Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic and is known as the political, social and cultural hub of central Europe. It is home to a number of well-known cultural attractions, ten major museums, and dozens of theaters, galleries, cinemas, and other historical exhibits. Even if you just make a stop in this city, there is plenty to do and see. Just drop your bags at a luggage storage in Prague and head out to see the sights! If you need help deciding what to do or see, here are a few of our favorites. Keep reading to find out more.

  1. The Prague Castle

If you are on a trip to Prague, you’ll want to make visiting the Prague Castle a top priority. This magnificent landmark was named by Guinness World Records as the largest ancient castle in the world. Not to mention its stunning architectural beauty. We recommend stopping by to see the changing of the guard which happens everyday at noon. Plan to be there around that time to see the ceremony that happens when the guard changes.

  1. Take a Walk Across the Charles Bridge

Once you have stopped by the castle for the changing of the guard ceremony, you will want to head across the Charles Bridge for some sightseeing. The bridge provides stunning views of the city and is used to directly connect the castle to Old Town Prague. Take some time to stop in Old Town Prague once you’ve walked the bridge. Here you will find the Old Town Square which is the city’s main marketplace. It’s surrounded by historical buildings such as Old Town City Hall and Tyn Cathedral. You also want to look out for the Astronomical Clock, St. Nicholas Church, and the Jan Hus Monument. Try out some of the local cuisine offered at the outdoor food stalls in the area before you head to your next location.

  1. The Jewish Quarter

The Jewish Quarter is home to several historical landmarks that you won’t want to miss. The Old Jewish Cemetery specifically is certainly worth a visit. In centuries past, Prague’s sizable jewish population was confined to a small part of town. This resulted in them only having a small plot of land to bury their dead. Over the generations, the overcrowding in the cemetery was resolved by stacking graves. Now, you will see thousands of tombstones crammed into a small piece of land, which is quite the sight to see. There is also an adjoining museum that you should stop by at the end of your cemetery visit.

Another must-see attraction in the Jewish Quarter is the Spanish Synagogue. It has sky high ceilings and is outfitted beautifully in stained glass and tile detailing. The stunning gold leaf details that adorn the interior are dazzling to see.

  1. Check Out the Nightlife

Once the sun goes down, the Old Town Square comes to life and turns into a nightlife hotspot. Head back there in the evening to check out some of Prague’s best bars and clubs. Prague is known to have a great party scene so make sure to grab a drink or two or go bar hopping. You can even join a bar crawl if you want a more guided experience through Prague’s nightlife.

  1. The Zizkov TV Tower

If you want a stark contrast to the architectural beauty of Prague, check out the Zizkov TV Tower. This landmark was comically named the second ugliest building in the world. You may be wondering why you should visit this eyesore, other than to say you saw one of the ugliest buildings in the world, of course. One of the good points this building has is several observation decks that offer stunning views of the prettier parts of the city.

Visiting in December?

This one is only for December travelers, but it is noteworthy enough to mention on this list. We are talking about the Christmas markets, of course! The Christmas markets are a festive place to eat and shop during the holiday season. It is also great for picking up souvenirs or some unique Christmas gifts for your friends and family.
