You should take care of your doll. Cared for dolls can last many years. This guide is for TPE dolls, as they are currently the most popular.

CLOTHING:

Make sure to wash all clothing items before you put them on the doll.

Unwashed, new clothing can contain dyes which will stain your doll. Wash your dolls' clothing several times to get rid of any dyes.

Please note that all clothing is unique. Even after washing, some clothing may still leave stains on your doll. Test it first on your doll or a sample of TPE.

Dark-colored clothes should be avoided

Even after washing, dark-colored clothes can leave stains on your doll. If possible, avoid wearing dark clothing, or if you must, wear it for a limited time. Clothing in deep colors, such as solid blue/red can cause problems. Test the fabric on TPE, or a part of a doll's head (such as the top).

Wear loose clothing

Wearing tight clothes can cause your doll to be marked and indented. Limit the time you wear it if it's necessary.

LUBRICANT:

The safest and most effective lubricant for your doll is water-based. Silicone lubricants and oil-based lubricants can damage the doll's material.

Vaseline or mineral oil is recommended by some doll owners as a lubricant. Pure petroleum jelly is a great lubricant, as molds and bacteria can't grow there. It is used by many doll owners, even though it's not recommended by the doll makers. The safest TPE doll lubricant to use is water-based.

CLEANING:

TPE dolls can be cleaned easily, but they can't be sterilized because of their porous nature. You can clean them with mild soap, water and antibacterial/antibacterial diluted.

Avoid using dishwashers, bleach, rubbing-alcohol, or boiling water. The material will be broken down by alcohol, dish soap, and bleach.

You can wipe your doll with a microfiber cloth if she is a bit dirty. Scrubbing can cause damage to the doll.

After each time you use your doll, remove the removable vagina and wash it. You can clean the built-in vaginas with a showerhead, squirt or cleaning douche. Rinse thoroughly, and then completely dry.

Remove Stains:

TPE is porous and can be easily stained by colored surfaces or clothing. The majority of stains eventually disappear on their own. However, it's recommended that you remove stains immediately after they occur. Stain remover is available from most doll brands. You should order directly from that brand.

There are several homemade remedies to remove stains if you don't have doll brand Stain Remover Cream:

  1. Some people have reported success with Vaseline/Petroleum for removing deeper stains.
  1. Benzoyl Peroxide Acne cream (such as Oxy10 Acne Remover) has been used by many to remove stains. Allow the cream to sit for 12-24 hours on stains and then wash it away. As an alternative, I've heard that hydrogen peroxide paste can be used. Please note: There have been no reports of Benzoyl Peroxide acne cream staining other brands, only SM Dolls. Use these products at your own discretion.

Some doll owners have had great success using odorless Painter's Solvent and Mineral Spirits to remove the most stubborn stains. This method is not recommended as it could damage the doll.

DRYING:

To prevent the growth of mold, it's important to thoroughly dry your doll after cleaning.

Dry with a soft microfiber towel or microfiber cloth. Place a fan in front of the wet areas such as anus, mouth and vagina. Do not use hairdryers. These areas should be left open/exposed to air until they are completely dry. You can keep your mouth open with a pencil.

It is good to use an air pump for aquariums or an electric air pump. It takes more effort and time to dry the TPE because of its material. The drying process can take several hours. Others use paper towel rolls or even tampons (which are cheaper).

Mold can form in the wet cavity of your doll if you do not fully dry it.

Use reusable condoms instead of washing and drying the doll. This will prevent mold from growing.

STORAGE:

Keep your doll cool, dark, and dry. Avoid surfaces that are hard as they can cause the doll to flatten. Also, avoid surfaces with bright colors. Your doll should be in an upright, neutral position with no bent joints.

It is best to store the doll in a short time on memory foam, such as those blocks included with it. The doll should not be left in one position for too long. It is best to move the doll around or change her position every now and then.

Remove the removable vagina while storing your doll.

Some people hang the dolls with hooks from the manufacturers to store them for a long time.

For storage, some doll owners lean their dolls against a cushioned surface. This is not a method I would recommend for long-term storing your doll because the knee joints can be damaged. Some doll owners store their dolls in this manner without any problems. This should work for short-term storage.

MAINTENANCE:

To extend the life of your doll, it is recommended that you oil and powder them. Please be careful and do not overdo this.

You can use mineral oil if you find that your doll has lost its suppleness. In general, you should first wash the doll before letting it dry. Massage the oil on after the doll has dried. Powder the doll after the oil has been absorbed. You can use baby powder or corn starch. Corn starch should not be used in humid areas or to store dolls for a long time.

Some people suggest powdering your doll at least every month and lubricating it once or twice a year, depending on how often you use her.

Why powder and oil your doll? Oiling your doll helps replenish the natural oil that is lost by TPE over time. Powdering the TPE can help smooth out any sticky skin that may develop over time. This is especially true after it has been washed.
