By combining resources and removing silos to speed up utilization, migrating your data to Oracle testing platform provides you with limitless capacity, automatic data security, and enhanced resilience. To move data to the most appropriate cloud service, such as Oracle Autonomous Database, MySQL, Hadoop, Object Storage, and others,

Oracle Cloud offers data migration tools and Cloud Lift services. Whether you are moving transactional, analytical, structured, or unstructured data, this is true. You may migrate your on-premises Oracle Database to an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Database service database using a number of approaches and tools. The optimal approach for a given migration situation is determined by a variety of factors, including the platform endian format, character set, and version of the source and target databases.

Not all migration situations are appropriate for all migration procedures. Many migration procedures are only usable if the source and destination databases have the same or equivalent properties. Furthermore, factors other than those that are technically appropriate for your migration scenario may influence the method you choose for your migration. To determine which migration techniques are appropriate for your relocation situation, gather the following information.

  • A version of your on-premises database:
  • Oracle Database 12c Release 2 version 12.2.0.1.
  • Oracle Database 12c Release 1 is at least version 12.1.0.2.
  • Oracle Database 11g Release 2 version 11.2.0.3 or later is required; earlier versions of Oracle Database 12c Release 1 are not supported.
  • Oracle Database 11g Release 2 versions earlier than 11.2.0.3
  • Oracle Database 12c Release 2 and Oracle Database 12c Release 1 on-premises databases use the following database architecture:
  • database container with several occupants (CDB)
  • Non-CDB
  • The host platform for your on-premises database is in endian format (byte ordering): Big endian and tiny endian are two different types of platforms. To find out the endian format and if cross-platform tablespace transmission is supported, run a query against V$TRANSPORTABLE PLATFORM. The small endian Linux operating system is used by the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Database.
  • Both your on-premises database and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Database have the same database character set. Some migration techniques call for compatible database character sets between the source and target databases.
  • When moving your on-premises databases to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you have a number of connecting choices. Below is a list of the choices in ascending order of preference.
  • Fast Connect: Rather than using the internet, it offers a safe link between your current network and your virtual cloud network (VCN).
  • Site-to-Site VPN: Provides a secure connection via a number of tunnels between a customer's premise equipment (CPE) and a dynamic routing gateway (DRG).
  • Provides a network traffic route between your VCN and the internet. See Internet Gateway for further details.

The classic transfer service facilitates data migration from Oracle migration to Cloud. A service instance running in a source environment can export its deployable artefacts and applied configuration, which can subsequently be imported into an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure compliant service instance. These elements work together to form an application. Since migration involves risk, Opkey can help businesses perform various types of tests continuously to catch any bugs and defects at an early stage.
