Let's See Astolfo: Personality Of Hope (Meme Status)

Astolfo: I wouldn't say I like the meme status of male characters acting or dressing in a feminine manner. These characters are often called "traps." Although I want the term itself, I wouldn't say I like the idea of these characters being more joke characters than serious characters. They are rarely taken seriously and are often used in memes to poke fun at their femininity or make sly jokes about how they try to trick people with their sex.
Astolfo is an excellent example of a character that fits the bill. Astolfo is often referred to as Fate/Apocrypha's joke character and is a popular character for shitty memes. This is a shame, as he is a great character whose actions are admirable and inspiring. Here's a post about Astolfo. He is one of my favorite Fate servants.

WARNING! Warning! There will be spoilers about Fate/Apocrypha.

Although Astolfo's personality makes it easy to dismiss him as a joke, Astolfo is a beacon of hope. It is his genuine goodness that is the main reason. The scene in Fate/Apocrypha in that Astolfo saves the homunculus is one of its most memorable scenes. Homunculi can be seen as disposable instruments that are not worth caring for. Astolfo does not see them this way. He saw one struggling and gave everything to him.
Siegfried gives the homunculus his life. The homunculus is unsure if a disposable human like him is worth saving. According to Astolfo, yes. Astolfo is as valid and human as anyone else and has the same rights as everyone else to live and enjoy happiness. This is the light that saves the world. It's that one ray of hope and genuine concern for others. This is why the line "Live!" is so simple. The powerful line "You're allowed now!" is so powerful because of this reason.

HOW ASTOLFO EMBODIES HOPE

This quote sums up Astolfo perfectly. Astolfo, in contrast to Shirou Kotomine, has genuine hope for the future and is that hope by being himself. He is a role model for people because he believes in everyone's worth and has a genuine concern for others. He is the embodiment of the hope he holds for the world. In another way, if more people were like him, there would be many more people with the same hope for humanity as Astolfo.

SPREADING HOPE TO SIEG

Astolfo is a symbol of hope. It's only fitting that his hope is passed to others. Astolfo wanted Sieg to have an everyday, happy life without the dangers of the Great Holy Grail War. But that is precisely what brings Sieg back. He was granted true freedom and used that freedom to do the same for the other homunculi as Astolfo. He also returns the favor by becoming Astolfo's new master. His faith in humanity was beginning to fade, and he felt the need to reclaim his hope for Jeanne and Astolfo to help him take on Shirou Kotomine.

PASSING ON THE TORCH

Astolfo shared his hope with Sieg, and as a result, Sieg was able to save the world from Shirou Kokomine by turning into the dragon and taking the Holy Grail. He had to pass the torch on to someone while he was gone. Astolfo, his faithful servant and friend, was the best person to carry out the mission of spreading happiness around the globe. It was the simple act of saving a homunculus that saved the world. This is the same light the world needs. A simple act of kindness and compassion can have such an impact on the world that it is possible to make a difference in the world. Astolfo is truly the change he hopes to see in the world.

CONCLUSION

This is it for this post. Astolfo is an underrated character. I wanted to highlight what makes him so captivating and help you see why Astolfo does not deserve to be considered a joke character in Fate fandom. Thank you for reading, and please try to be more sympathetic like Astolfo.
