MIAMI (CBSMiami) Although the war in Ukraine might seem distant South Floridians continue offer support to those who are leaving.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Many Sunny Isles Jews are helping to raise money and coordinate an effort to help the homeless.

"Just last night, 1100 patients were in attendance," said Marsha Jaquays in Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital.

She revealed that more than two million Ukrainian refugees have fled war-ravaged Ukraine. A large portion of them are crossing the border into Moldova which is a tiny country that borders Ukraine.

Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping get them over the border, and possibly offering food, shelter and clothing."

A large portion of the humanitarian efforts are led by Sunny Isles, South Florida.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun "My mission is to gather as many American social resources as is possible to help with the crisis in Moldova. Emmanuil grinshpun who has been involved in the coordination of the relief effort said that there are a number of people working on the ground in Moldova to help organize camps, food purchases, and bus planning.

This is further exacerbated by the fact Moldova is one of the most deprived in the world. However, those who take part in this effort say that they will never stop helping.

Grinshpun said, "When brothers and sister from Ukraine arrived, we didn't have to think about it. We simply began making plans."

Sentiments echoed by Jaquays.

"Who were present during the Holocaust and also when the Nazis were victorious? What percentage of people have gone blind, claiming that it's not them, they're not Jewish, it isn't my community, and there's no Europe? We shouldn't repeat the same mistakes as history. There's a saying that states, "If you don't now then when." If not me, who?

They're hosting a variety of local events to help increase awareness and aid the Ukraine refugees. On March 24 the next event will be held in Sunny Isles. https://cyprusregistry.com/de/officials/EMMANUIL GRINSHPUN/info Click Here for details https://e21partners.com/
