Barauli Community Homestay in Chitwan
It lies in an ethnic Tharu village of Barauli near Chitwan National Park. It is run by local women which provides them valuable skills, source of income and confidence. It has 14 specially built private cottages: earthen, thatched-roof huts that resemble the traditional village architecture of the local Tharu people, but with modern conveniences like running water, comfy beds, and mosquito nets. This creates a little village compound, with tended gardens and farmyard animals tethered beside small patches of farmland from which the food is sourced along with other local surroundings. Each cottage is named after the local woman who manages it. A major attraction is the fact that you can combine cultural learning with nature and wildlife-focused activities as you meet people who live around the park, learn about their lifestyles, and witness how nature and culture coexist.
