6 min read

Exams and sleep have a very weird relationship. The nearer the exams are, the more sleepless nights you have, although your urge to sleep goes way higher. Students keep practising and practising till they feel confident enough. But the sad part is most students fail to feel confident even after that.

But there needs to be an end to this. And hence here I bring you a set of tips that will help you prepare for your math test and, of course, keep your sleep hour intact.

Prepare for Your Math Exam! No More Sleepless Nights

Prep Tricks for Math Test

Before you start reading the tips, let me clarify that they are not some out-of-the-box ideas that will surprisingly help you. Instead, it is most of the regular things that you do, but you just need to put more emphasis on it.

  1. Rest –

Carve it in your head that all of that restlessness you have before your math assignment test is going to be of no help to you. Rather it may have the opposite impact. Therefore, the first thing you must do is take proper rest. For example, you finished your science test today and have the math test in the next two days. Try to rest for that evening and start preparing for the next day. This is only because you need to give some rest to your already boggled-up mind. And very specifically, this is not just about the days before the test; you need rest for months and weeks before you sit. Every time you sit to practise math, your brain must be recharged and well-rested.

  1. Eat –

Yeah!! Did that excite you already? This part is the most exciting exercise for me. To give your best, you must eat your best. There should be enough protein reaching your brain. Additionally, with proper meals, specifically a balanced diet, you will carry less stress, concentrate more on things, and discover it less demanding to hold to your blood pressure.

  1. Organise –

Okay, so to be honest, this is one of the most vital steps on your part. You need to start doing this for months before your math test, right from when you are beginning off with your syllabus. The initial steps are arranging a proper schedule in which you fit math as per your convenience. Choose the time you think you will be able to understand the criticalities the most. Then, fix that time slot for math only.

  1. Split –

You have to understand that it is next to impossible to complete any math chapter at a go. You have to split the chapters into portions for better learning. In case you are beginning with revisions, it is better to increase the segments by including one chapter in one segment rather than portions of the chapter. You can take time for the complicated chapters. But try to keep pace with each round of revision. In this case, you have to understand your own learning capacity.

  1. Privacy –

When you are learning or practising your math lessons, you must make sure you are alone. Any presence of your family or friend can be distracting for you. This is true no matter whether they are chatting with you or giving you silent company. You know what? Studies often say that the pressure of performance always increases with the number of presence around you. Especially if the subject is not, you are very fond of. With another person present in the same room you are always aware and more conscious of acing the subject perfectly. Additionally, finishing your pre-set goals saves you a lot of energy and time.

  1. Breaks –

Breaks are important. As you sit to learn math, there is no hard and fast rule that you have to constantly sit for hours solving the sums and learning the theorems. Take regular breaks for refreshment purposes. But be careful to not take them too often. Too many frequent breaks can also affect your concentration. So set a goal, finish it take a short break and then again come back with a slightly bigger goal. Make sure to do something light and less stressful, like talking with your mom and asking how the day was and if not, close your eyes and take a 10 minutes nap.

  1. Group Study –

Math is a subject that intrigues most students. If you and some of your friends feel the same way about math, then it is better you all sit together in a group study kind of set-up. This way, you can help each other in the most unexpected ways possible. Educators have proved that group studies can motivate students in different unknown ways. Hence whenever possible, try to arrange for group study programs. For example, you can plan a Friday night study program and a picnic the next day. Programs like this are usually successful and serve the purpose well.

  1. Last Minute Revisions –

The thing about last-minute revisions is that you need to be aware that you don't invest too much time in them. This session should be kept short and crisp. Don't overstress yourself because that can make you way more confused.

Parting Thoughts –

All of you will agree with me when I say that math is not one of your favourite subjects. Yet, you cannot deny the significance of the subject in your academic career. Hence, knowing the best ways to deal with math problems is necessary. The tips mentioned here will help you cope with complex math problems and ace your exams. So, study well, and best of luck with your upcoming math test.
