Roblox has erased an integral part of the game, taking the well-known "oof" sound on the platform due to a "licensing issue," the developer said.

Roblox Corporation, the developer of the massively multiplayer online game, announced the decision on Tuesday via Twitter and announced that a replacement was being launched immediately on the platform.

"Related to sounds due to a licensing problem, we have removed the "oof" sound from Roblox and created an alternative default sound, which launches today," the company tweeted.

Kotaku informs us that the "oof" sound was made by Tommy Tallarico, a former game composer and Intellivision CEO. This isn't the first time Roblox has had to deal with licensing issues.

If you are wondering, "oof" refers to the sound that characters make when they die or reset. However it has evolved from a simple exclamation to an iconic rallying call for the Roblox community.

Roblox announced that it would soon expand its Avatar Shop which is where you can purchase custom clothing, accessories and etc., along with "old" and "new" sounds.
