Step 1 – End All QuickBooks Processes from the Task Manager

You can repair QuickBooks installation by terminating the QB processes in the following manner –

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to access the Task Manager and go to the Processes tab.
  2. Right-click on any of the processes and select End Process to terminate it.
  3. Select the End All Processes option and perform a QuickBooks restart, followed by selecting the Repair QuickBooks option.
  4. Let the repair process run, and once done, open your QuickBooks Desktop to see if the issue is eliminated. 

Step 2 – Rename the QBWUSER.INI, .ND, and .TLG Files to Mend the File Corruption

When crucial QuickBooks files are not working correctly, it can cause the ‘QuickBooks will not open’ issue. To repair these files, you need to add an extension to their names and rename them.

Access the QuickBooks File Directory and go to the files section to find the following files –

  1. QBWUSER.INI
  2. Network Data
  3. Transaction Log
  4. Once the files are found, right-click on each of them and select Rename to add .OLD at the end of the file names.
  5. Hit Enter to save the modifications, and once all the files are renamed, perform a QuickBooks restart.
