  • One face to the customer: Lufthansa Group combines all of its airlines' sales activities in Africa.
  • In Brussels, a new sales office for sub-Saharan Africa has been set up.
  • All of Brussels Airlines' sales offices in Africa will join the sales organisation of Lufthansa Group.

Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Lufthansa, and SWISS will now work together on sales in Africa. Book flights to Africa and make changings according to your interests in the section of Brussels airlines manage booking. In many markets around the world, the Lufthansa Group airlines had already aligned their sales structures for business customers and travel agencies. Now, the integration will be continued in Africa. This is an important step toward having "one face to the customer" and offering the same products and services everywhere in the world.

Brussels is getting a new sales office for sub-Saharan Africa

Brussels Airlines has a strong presence and a lot of experience in Africa. With 23 destinations, most of which are in West and Central Africa, they have a dense network there. In order to share this knowledge and help the Lufthansa Group integrate and take advantage of synergies and efficiencies, all sales activities in sub-Saharan Africa will be based at the headquarters of Brussels Airlines in Brussels.

"We are a great addition to the Lufthansa Group's sales presence in Africa, especially in the Sub-Saharan part of the continent. We have a lot of experience in the African market, and our employees are very dedicated. Our customers will have more options now that we have a global offer that includes the whole Lufthansa Group Africa network, says Christina Foerster, CEO of Brussels Airlines.

The customer only sees one face.

With this new way of doing business, the sales teams that are already in place in Africa will be in charge of all of the Group's airline brands. "Customers will benefit from having a single point of contact and a local presence that stays the same. Dr. Stefan Kreuzpaintner, Vice President Sales EMEA for the Lufthansa Group, says, "This lets us be close to our markets and customers, meet their specific needs, and create harmonised offerings in the future." "Our sales staff can now sell all of our brands together in packages and products."

Africa is a big deal for Lufthansa Group.

Africa is a key area for growth for the Lufthansa Group because all of its airlines fly to and from there. With the full purchase of Brussels Airlines in January 2017, the Lufthansa Group increased the number of African destinations it serves from 21 to 44. Because it focuses so much on Africa, Brussels Airlines fits in well with the rest of the Group's network.

Today, the Lufthansa Group is the second largest European airline group in Africa. It has 311 weekly flights between Europe and Africa.

Starting with the winter schedule for 2018/19, the Lufthansa Group will offer more in Africa:

  • Austrian Airlines will start a new route between Vienna, Austria, and Cape Town, South Africa, with two flights per week.
  • Lufthansa will make its connection between Frankfurt and Addis Ababa a nonstop flight, which will cut the flight time by more than two hours.
