University of East Anglia recreated in Minecraft during lockdown

In response to the Covid-19 lockdown students have rebuilt their campus.
Sophie Johnston, a University of East Anglia (UEA) fresher was 19 when she began looking through the planning software to recreate the grounds with the video game Minecraft.

She was assisted by three housemates: Rebecca Bystry (20), Tom Greensted (19) and Matthew Wright (19).
The "campus" has been visited by more than 200 students. It is still being constructed.
Ms Johnston said that she agrees that university is missing the social aspect, which allows people to meet and acquainted with people from different backgrounds.
"The server has allowed us to stay in connected with each other, but also met people we'd never had the pleasure of meeting in real life. This has been great for us all mentally during lockdown."
Students have developed places like the Ziggurat accommodation and main square LCR music venue or UEA(su), and the Norwich library. university.
The four students who are admins for the server, all have different roles and responsibilities, with Ms. Johnston and Ms Bystry, building the structures, Mr Wright answering questions from players via phone calls and text chats, with Mr Greensted who has mastered coding himself and is responsible for troubleshooting.
The campus was built in Minecraft's creative mode , which means that the students were able to access all the resources that Minecraft has to offer.
With the assistance of other players they are currently working on the interiors of some buildings.
Ms. Johnston said that "Since our first year hasn't been in any of the buildings, it's been necessary to use the help from other staff, students, and alumni who've donated pictures to help us- there has been a lot of recalling!"
