 High reliability and low latency communication (URLLC), with high reliability and low latency, suitable for applications requiring fail-safe, real-time communication.
 Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), which increases data transfer rates, network capacity and coverage compared to traditional mobile broadband;
Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), meeting the requirements of real-time audio/video transmission, reducing delay, reducing jitter, etc.
Both eMBB and URLLC support IoT connections, but they only include high-speed and low-latency applications, such as robotic automation and drones. What are the main advantages of 5G RedCap?
Low cost: Compared with ordinary 5G terminal equipment, 5G RedCap devices use fewer antennas, and 5G RedCap supports lower bandwidth. The reduced number of antennas can reduce our material cost, and the reduced bandwidth also reduces the cost of our PA, so that the cost of our entire set of equipment is lower than that of ordinary 5G equipment. At the same time, 5G RedCap reduces power consumption, which provides us with more choices in the choice of power supply in the later stage. We can choose the power supply according to the use time of the equipment, and at the same time see the bottom of our cost.
    High rate: The transmission rate of RedCap in the application of smart wearable devices can reach a downlink transmission rate of 150Mbps and an uplink transmission rate of 50 Mbps.
    Low energy consumption: RedCap's batteries can last for several years in industrial sensor applications and a week or two in smart wearable devices.
Further evolution of IoT applications and LTE to NR migration
    RedCap devices have peak rates and complexities similar to existing low-end LTE device classes such as Cat-2, Cat-3 or Cat-4. This makes RedCap devices the best choice to replace low-end LTE devices when use cases that require low-end LTE devices eventually need to migrate to NR. When the device hardware bandwidth, number of antennas, and supported modulation requirements are similar to those of low-end LTE devices, we can also implement dual-mode devices that support both low-end LTE devices and RedCap devices.
All in all, RedCap devices can efficiently coexist with other NR devices without adversely affecting overall network performance. RedCap inherits many key advantages of 5G NR, such as supporting a wide frequency band (including millimeter wave frequency band), native 5G core network, high network energy efficiency brought by NR lean design, low latency, etc.
