We'd like to offer an honorable mention to The Blockheads (APKMirror). It was a popular Minecraft alternative for a long time, but Noodlecake was forced to shut down the game down due to disputes with Google Play. You'll have to install the APK today. If you need assistance, we've prepared an instruction.

LostMiner

Price: $1.99 / Free

LostMiner is a lot like Terraria. It is a 2D-style video game that allows for building, mining, and crafting. There are also animals as well as bad guys and other things while playing. While the graphics aren't likely to be a hit however, they fit the style of the game quite well. Most of the complaints are bug related however, this is an indie game, so it's to be expected a little bit. The game is still relatively affordable and surprisingly enjoyable to play.

Pixel Worlds

Pixel Worlds is an exciting mix of MMO and Minecraft (or Terraria). Players can play in a 2D world with various mining and crafting mechanics. There are also dungeons and other things to explore. It is unique in that it allows other players to join in the game. You can join servers already in progress or create your own server for other players to join. It's a unique experience , and it's cross-platform, with PC and Mac.

Roblox is often compared with Minecraft but Roblox offers a lot more to offer. Roblox is a platform that allows people to play a variety of game types created by community members. You can build and craft. They can also include shooting and puzzles, and all kinds of stuff. Roblox and Minecraft are two sides of the same coin in terms of freedom. The freedom to play as they please and not being shackled by a set course is what Roblox as well as Minecraft have in common. This high-level sandbox style of game play isn't like Minecraft however it does feel like Minecraft in some regards.

Survivalcraft 1 and 2

Price: $3.99

Survivalcraft is one the most like Minecraft-style games you'll come across. You will end up moored at the shore of a block world. You'll need to build stuff, craft stuff, make weapons and defend yourself, as well as cultivate plants. This goes one step further by allowing you to construct functional machines that actually accomplish things. In addition you can play with three players in split screen mode if you have a device that can handle it. Survivalcraft 2 hasn't seen an update since the year 2017, so we're concerned that it's been abandoned, but it plays perfectly for the moment.

Price: $4.99

Terraria is Minecraft's closest competitor. It has many of the same features such as crafting, mining and survival and also killing bosses. However, this one takes place in an actual 2D space, not a 3D space like Minecraft. The game includes multiplayer with up to seven other players, over 20 biomes to explore, numerous NPCs to seek out and much more. This game wasn't available for at least a year because it hadn't been updated for a long time. However, it seems the developers are back on track now. This one is also available for free with Google Play Pass if you make use of it.
