A new Chatbot application, ChatGPT is rapidly emerging as a free and fast assistant for writing content in an efficient manner.

It has gained attention and recognition from many sectors worldwide as it can generate human-like responses in less than a second for any question you ask. As attractive as AI may sound, it can pose a serious threat to the future of many job profiles and industries.

In the education sector also these chatbots can assist students in acquiring knowledge but at the same time, it is making them reliant on AI to complete their assignments and homework.

In this article, we are going to talk about major drawbacks of AI writing tools.

  1. Lack of Creativity

We are often told to think outside the box! Unfortunately, that is not an option for AI writing tools as they can only work with pre-fed data.

The content generated by AI lacks critical thinking resulting in a monotonous style. It provides content with a fixed structure which may or may not be suitable for all types of writing.

Although AI can be trained to provide error-free and factual content, it cannot be taught how to think abstractly. It uses certain patterns and phrases so frequently that the sense of originality gets lost and it becomes very easy to detect AI-generated content.

  1. Issues Related to Plagiarism

With the increase in the number of apps like ChatGPT, the number of apps to detect whether or not the content has been written by a human or AI has also increased. An AI Content Detector can easily find which text is generated by an AI.

Many language models are accused of generating plagiarized or unoriginal content. They are not developed with built-in mechanisms, thus, they are unable to cite the exact source from where the content has been cited leading to potential plagiarism issues.

  1. Ethical and Social Concern Arise from AI Tools

There is no guarantee that what AI writing tools are generating is 100% accurate. Sometimes the content can be misleading and outdated. The spread of such misinformation can lead to some serious consequences.

There is even a possibility of the generated content being biased related to gender or race if the data it contains is an unfair representation. AI can’t be held accountable for the misinformation it can provide, so the person using its generated content will be liable.

  1. Dependency and Devaluation of Human Interaction

Frequent use of AI writing tools such as ChatGPT can result in the reduction of human interaction as well as in one’s creativity. Many people, nowadays, are using AI daily not only to find solutions to their problems but also to have a conversation.

The fact that people are having really deep conversations and exposing their privacy to an AI model, can sound funny to many but it is true. This practice is not only affecting the socializing skills of a person but also their skills of actively listening and understanding each other at an emotional level.

  1. Leading to Unemployment

AI writing tools have both negative and positive impacts on employment. Tasks that were initially done by specific teams are now done by AI alone. This has led many people to lose their job and no one knows what the future holds for all of us!

The youth should be aware of emerging technologies and develop the relevant skills to remain competitive with AI. Those who avoid learning about these new skills are likely to get unemployed over time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as important as it is to constantly be aware of the new technologies being used around us, it is also important not to rely on them solely.

If an AI writing tool can compose a whole novel in just 2 minutes, it can also misinform you, devalue human interactions for you, and maybe increase the chances of unemployment.
