When Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook joined the Los Angeles Lakers prior to last season, there was a groundswell of opinion that Frank Vogel’s side would be challenging for an NBA title, but it didn’t quite work out that way.

Vogel’s side failed to even make it to the play-in tournament, and it cost him his job as head coach, and now, there is speculation that Carmelo Anthony is keen on rejoining the New York Knicks, who he represented between 2011 and 2017.

Fans of the Knicks who feel such a move would boost their chances of a first NBA title in almost fifty years should take a look at sports-betting.ny.com to get a better idea of what sportsbooks are most worthy of your betting dollars.

Clearly, the chance to line up alongside LeBron James was enough to lure Anthony to the Crypto.com Arena, but he may now be on his way out. Speculation is rife about a move back to the Knicks, with NBA insider Jake Fischer reporting;

“According to a recent report, forward Carmelo Anthony has an interest in returning to the New York Knicks.”

“I have certainly heard that Carmelo’s got interest in a reunion; I don’t know if the Knicks have much interest there.”

General manager Rob Pelinka, who was hailed for bringing in the big names that failed to translate into success at the Lakers, is now gearing up for a more youthful look to the Los Angeles roster, and at 38 years of age, Carmelo Anthony wouldn’t appear to be part of such a shake-up.

As for other potential suitors keen on the 10-time NBA All-Star pick, Forbes believes the Phoenix Suns are a possible match for Anthony, and that move may also tempt the Lakers star.

There is also talk of a possible move to join the Brooklyn Nets, with Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney believing the deal may be connected to Kevin Durant’s fate;

"There has been some talk about them signing Carmelo Anthony, maybe as a nod to Kevin Durant, but obviously that has not gotten anywhere, at least not yet,"

Carmelo Anthony is set to be a free agent and will be entering his 20th NBA season and; therefore, his next move may be his last big deal before he’d call time on a glittering career that is still without a Championship ring.

His best form came during his time at the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks, and over recent seasons, at Oklahoma City with the Thunder, Houston Rockets, the Portland Trail Blazers, and in LA with the Lakers, he has at times been treading water.

Last season he averaged just 13.3 points per game, his worst return thus far, and a fresh challenge may well be just what the doctor ordered.

The New York Knicks would do well to lure Anthony back to Madison Square Garden for one last push for a long-awaited title for both Carmelo and the team’s long-suffering fans.
