LAUNCH PARTNERSHIP THOMAS COOK BELGIUM AND BRUSSELS AIRLINES IS GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT FROM BELGIAN COMPETITION AUTHORITYThe Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) said today that Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium can give some of its assets to Brussels Airlines. The Competition Authority has decided that Brussels Airlines can ask for the airport slots so that the cooperation can start for sure by the end of October.

On March 30, Brussels Airlines and Thomas Cook Belgium (Neckermann, Thomas Cook, and Pegase) said they wanted to make their partnership much stronger. This will make Brussels Airlines the most important airline partner of the Thomas Cook travel company in Belgium by the end of October. The agreement also called for the transfer of some of Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium's assets, such as 160 crew members, airport slots, and two planes.

The plan to work together was conditional on approval from the Competition Authorities, which has now been given. The Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) has decided that the merger law allows the transfer of assets.

After this important decision is approved, Brussels Airlines will ask for airport slots to be moved. Once Brussels Airlines gets this slot portfolio, Brussels Airlines and Thomas Cook Belgium will be able to work together more. The plan is for Brussels Airlines to become the most important airline partner of Neckermann, Thomas Cook, and Pegase by the end of October, when the Autumn Holidays begin. Customers of both companies will be able to choose from more destinations, more flights, and more days to leave thanks to the partnership.

Information for the press: Thomas Cook Belgium's Managing Director Jan Dekeyser and Brussels Airlines' CEO Bernard Gustin will talk more about their plans at a press conference on September 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Brussels Airlines' b.house.
