Minecraft developer Mojang Studios is taking a strongly-held position against NFTs. In a blog post entitled "Minecraft and NFTs," the studio which is owned by Microsoft, wrote that "integrations of NFTs with Minecraft are generally not something we accept or support."

"To ensure that Minecraft players have a secure and enjoyable experience, blockchain technology is not allowed to be used inside our client and server applications, nor can Minecraft in-game content such as skins, worlds persona items, or any other mods, be utilized by blockchain technology to create a scarce digital asset," Mojang said.

Mojang claims that several companies have created "NFT Implementations that go along with Minecraft World Skin Packs and Files." This suggests that Minecraft players could earn NFTs by playing on a server or through earning them outside of Minecraft.

Mojang claims that these practices encourage digital exclusion and scarcity, which goes against Minecraft's principles. "NFTs are not inclusive of all members of our community and create a semblance of the haves and the have-nots," the studio said. Mojang adds that NFTs their speculative nature "encourages profiteering."

The blog post is worth reading in full. It provides a variety of criticisms of NFTs and blockchain projects in a simple and understandable way. Minecraft java (There are many more quotes that I could add to the list.

Valve has taken also taken an aggressive stance against blockchain-based games as well as NFTs on Steam, and much of gamers have opposed NFTs, with Ubisoft discontinuing the production of NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint just a few months after launching the initiative. Epic Games stated last year that it was "open" for blockchain games on Epic Games Store. The store was the first to receive a blockchain-based game in June.

Mojang does not completely exclude the possibility of incorporating blockchain technology into the future. However, it states that "we do not plan to incorporate blockchain technology into Minecraft right at this time."
