A Delaware student spent two years creating an imaginary world was named Titan City in Minecraft.

Titan City is constructed out of 4.5 million Minecraft building blocks. It also contains 96 buildings.

Duncan Parcells says it has taken him two years to build the project, and he is averaging five hours per week working on the project.

His first structure was a virtual replica of the World Trade Center. What’s the worst that could happen It took 18 months to complete.

However the 19-year-old says Titan City is not a realistic model of New York.

"It's inspired by New York," he said to the BBC.

"A majority of people believe that it's a game, but it isn't."

The city was originally built with the Xbox 360 version, but he has since switched it to the PC version that he claims has more construction options.

Mr Parcells plans to build an airport and an arena for sports.

"I believe it's an outlet for architecture and energy," he said.

"Architecture has always been something I have enjoyed. I'm particularly proud of the less modern builds, the more art deco, Victorian-style builds.

"A lot of people drop in and want to explore the area or help with the construction." Many of them assist in helping create roads.

While Titan City has been welcomed by the public with open arms, Mr. Parcells declared that he's kept his virtual world separate from his real life.

"I've kept it secret, it's kind of like an extra life that I don't talk about but people are beginning to find out," he said.

"My parents think it's cool . I'm sure they're happy I don't play it so much."

Microsoft recently signed an agreement to acquire Minecraft studio Mojang in a deal of $2.5bn (PS1.5bn).

Markus Persson, aka Notch announced that the game had reached 100 million users in February 2014.

After an initial purchase of the game Minecraft is completely free to play, however there are in-game purchases that can be purchased.

The game is played in a virtual space comprised of cubes of various materials. A majority of these materials can be used to construct blocks, and some can be made into usable raw materials such as iron, wood and diamond.

The game involves surviving by using blocks to build a shelter and turning raw materials and combinations of them into objects (swords or armour, bows) to kill the game's numerous creatures.
