Mojang Rolls out Player Chat Reporting In Minecraft Java

Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is available and comes with some controversial changes, which some players aren't happy about.

The first major change is the addition of player reporting, if they send abusive messages in the game chat. The system allows you to report specific individuals on servers and select multiple messages to include, plus add some comments. Mojang / Microsoft moderators then will look over the reports and decide on actions. It applies to everyone, even private servers. Another modification to text chat is linking together with that. minecraftservers It will add a note to the chat for each message that is not sent or if it is altered by the server.

Mojang says that players will not be banned for swearing, however it's more directed at "hate speech, bullying, harassment, sexual solicitation, or making true threats to others". If you are banned, it won't affect your single-player experience.

Naturally, there are mods that can circumvent this like the No Chat Reports mod that claims to eliminate the signatures attached to chat messages which makes them "impossible to trace and link your chat messages with your Minecraft and, in turn, Microsoft account".

In case you didn't know, Mojang also recently said no to NFTs and blockchain in Minecraft.
