Xbox has joined forces with preservation society National Trust (opens in new tab) and a few British creatives to create an Minecraft model of Corfe Castle. The rather complex impressive model was commissioned by Xbox UK as part of the National Trust's festival of archaeology, encouraging people to create "their own version of the castle using the foundations."

Grian, a YouTube video maker, made this first build. i do what the voices in my head tell me You can view his work in the video above as well as on YouTube. (opens in new tab) Based on historical photographs and consulting with an expert, and then mixing Minecraft build knowledge with a little artistic license, Grian creates a build that highlights the most fascinating features of Corfe Castle such as its historic octagonal tower and miniature palace or "Gloriette." It is a medieval kingly version I believe it is a kingly version of the Victorian folly.

"Grian has done a brilliant job in restoring Corfe Castle back to its former splendor. He not only accomplished an exact recreation of the various historical styles in the castle grounds, but he also incorporated it into his own imagination. Martin Papworth, an archaeologist working for the National Trust, said that we cannot wait to see more inspiring designs created by young minds."

You can download Corfe's ruins yourself by checking out the Minecraft server corfe.ruinsreimagined.com. The ruin will also be released into a set for Minecraft: Education Edition for use in classrooms. Microsoft's website provides more details. (opens in an entirely new tab)
