Kabirski was born 1964 in Makhachkala, Dagestan, in a family of medical doctors who wanted him to pursue a similar career path. Thus getting a first-class education in the fine art of jewelry design was not on the agenda of German Kabirski’s parents, but he was a natural artist. The thought that his dreams came true held him in place for a while, but after figuring out that art college is not offering him enough freedom in creativity and originality, he left.

The next turn in his life came as a surprise when he was enlisted into the regular Russian army for two years. After a few years of study at the Dagestan State University, Kabirski headed west to study art at the prestigious Institutum of Arts and Crafts in Paris. Upon returning to Russia, he attended the Art Academy in Moscow. After graduating, Kabirski took a job as a jeweler’s assistant at the Sokolniki Park in Moscow. Kabirski’s first foray into solo showmanship took place in 1999.
