When moving out of on-campus student housing, deciding on the best place to live in Liverpool can be a difficult decision. There are many student-populated areas where you can feel comfortable, but which one is right for you? There is a list of pros and cons for many popular student neighborhoods in Liverpool, but it's up to each person to decide if it's the best place for you. We've compiled a list of the best student neighborhoods in Liverpool, and why you should consider them for your second or third year of study.

The city center

Generally, zip codes for apartments in Liverpool city center start with L1, L2, and L3. When you live here, you'll be close to every campus in the city itself, as well as the vibrant day and nightlife Liverpool has to offer. You'll be close to stores, cafes, and libraries, and right in the center of the city - something you may be used to if you've lived in a city center residence hall. However, some disadvantages of living in the city center include limited parking and a higher cost of living, which you should consider when making your decision.

The L6 and L7 zip codes offer the advantage of being within walking distance of the city center without the higher costs. Kensington has many amenities for students, including cheaper grocery stores, and there are many unique small stores that are quirky and cheap right on your doorstep. The area has ample student accommodation Liverpool facilitating students to choose the best that meets their needs and budget.

Properties in Toxteth typically have the zip code L8. Toxteth is also known as the Georgian neighborhood and is home to historic Georgian buildings and townhomes at reasonable prices for prospective renters. There are few student apartments in this area, but if you're lucky enough to find
one, this could be the perfect place for you.

Wavertree and Smithdown Road

Properties in this area of Liverpool have the L15 zip code and are home to a large number of restaurants, takeaways, stores, pubs, and more. The Brookhouse is one of the largest student pubs in the area and is known for its weekly £1 pint nights. Although it's quite far from the city center, there are many public transport links that can support you. Smithdown Road is one of the most popular student neighborhoods in Liverpool. So, if you're looking for the hustle and bustle of student life, this is the place to be.

Aigburth, home to the popular Lark Lane, is home to many fine restaurants, stores, and cafes. Aigburth offers good transport links to the city center, and with Sefton Park nearby, there is plenty of green space for nature lovers to explore.

Islington is a trendy student neighborhood on the eastern edge of the city center. It's within easy walking distance of John Moores University and the University of Liverpool in the Knowledge Quarter, and the city is just a short bus ride away. There is plenty of student housing available in Islington at affordable prices. A great place to experience Liverpool student life.

The Knowledge Quarter

Two of Liverpool's universities are located in the Knowledge Quarter, and the area is also home to leading organizations in science, technology, health, and culture. It's located in the heart of the city center and close to some of Liverpool's most popular student bars and pubs.

Everton is located to the north of the city center and is more suited to mature students. It's a quieter area with more modern buildings, and nearby Everton Park is a great place to jog, walk, or enjoy the fresh air.

Mossley Hill

This is an area with a fairly large student population. There are plenty of stores, cafes, and bars nearby; the University of Liverpool halls of residence and LJMU campus IM Marsh are within walking distance; and Liverpool Hope University in Childwall is just a short bus ride away. Again, the only downside is that the city center is accessible by bus, as it's too far to walk.

Crosby is an up-and-coming neighborhood in the north of the city, just a 20-minute drive from downtown. Crosby has everything you could want: Open space, sports facilities, and theatres. It's widely known for its academic brilliance and has a vibrant private school community. The nearby
award-winning beach and several country walking trails offer visitors the best of both worlds. Crosby, popular with people seeking proximity to the ocean and beaches, is north of the city center. You can reach the city in about 20 minutes by public transportation. You also have access to various private schools and outdoor attractions like parks. For this reason, many families choose to live in this neighborhood of Liverpool. Also, there is lively nightlife here, which makes it less suitable for young families.
