Mojang Say no to Blockchain and NFTs With Minecraft

There's a good news story on NFTs! MULTIPLAYER SERVERS Mojang has released a brand new guide to the rules surrounding NFTs and Blockchain.

There are many scams out there when it comes to NFTs, specifically when it comes companies using "blockchain" when they don't require it. Thankfully, Mojang have listened and put out some rules and the gist is that "integrations of NFTs in Minecraft are generally not something we will allow or even support" they stated.

Their blog post on news provides a brief intro to what NFTs are, and giving a brief overview of the reason they have rules for server owners as well as content creators, which is to "ensure that Minecraft remains a community where everyone can access the same content". Part of the problem is the way in which NFTs "create models of exclusion and scarcity which violate our guidelines and the nature of Minecraft".

Mojang will make their position clear on it all stating that "As as a way to ensure that Minecraft players enjoy a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our Minecraft client or server applications, nor are they used to create NFTs with any game content, including worlds skins, persona items, or any other mods. ".

This is great, because it should hopefully prevent another Blockverse that was intended to be a "on-chain Ethereum NFT that would allow the creation of a unique P2E in Minecraft". What happened? They took a lot of money and then vanished with it.

However they're not ruling out using blockchain in Minecraft to "allow for more secure experiences or other practical and inclusive games" but they're currently no plans to use it as of right now.
